On this tour you’ll see the islands (and whales!) from virtually every perspective.

If you want your memorable flight to include Maximum Whale Watching we can offer you the very best observation point—directly above the whales. We’ll find you the whales when the boats are only guessing at where they may be. You’ll see more whales and (unlike on a boat) you’ll see them deep beneath the waves. And because we’ll not actually be in their environment, we won’t disturb them. The Whale Watching/Extended Air Tour is only $139/person.

  • How to get to San Juan Air Tours

    From the waterfront (Ferry), drive through the middle of town on Spring Street; two blocks from the water the road ?Y?s,? stay to the right and go to the stop sign; proceed on Spring Street, at the edge of town (next to ballpark) the road bends to the left; continue for about two blocks to the marked entrance to the airport; turn left at the Friday Harbor Airport sign; a short block later the road divides, turn to the left; proceed down the hill to San Juan Air Tours Scenic Flight Center next to Ernie?s Café. *Please note that if you end-up at the Terminal, you've gone too far.

  • Q. What should I bring with me?

    A. Bring anyone who wants a great experience with a big smile and a camera. You may even want a picture of your pilot.

  • Q. What days are good for flights?

    A. Most days?even cloudy and/or windy days. Summer days are excellent for Scenic Flights; the lighting conditions on cloudy days are usually best for photography. If scheduled to fly, and concerned about weather, call us.

  • Q. How well can whales be seen from an airplane?

    A. Better than from a boat. Aircraft do not contend with glare off the water as do boats; so we?ll put you right above the whales and you?ll be able to see those whales well beneath the surface without disturbing them!

  • Q. How large a party can be accommodated?

    A. We can fly up to three people at a time, larger groups are accommodated through subsequent flights.

  • Q. May children take a scenic flight?

    A. Children of all ages are welcome. This is a wonderful experience for all ages, so bring the kiddies. Children under two years of age ride in their parents arms for free.

  • Q. How smooth is the ride?

    A. Air over the San Juan Islands is very smooth even on hot and/or windy days. So, even if you?re prone to motion sickness, you won?t experience a problem?we know.

  • Q. Can special events or different types of flights be accommodated?

    A With prior arrangements, we offer flights over the islands tailored to meet your needs; including celebrations, marriage proposals, viewing real estate, or simply selecting the flight path you prefer. Make your request and we?ll try to accommodate you.

  • Q. How do we get to/from the airport if we?re on foot?

    A If you come to Friday Harbor by Ferry or Boat, we?ll transport you from the Port of Friday Harbor Dock or Town and return you to the same place after your flight. Be sure to call us before (preferably the day before) your scheduled time.
